Cops arrest attorney for three sexual assaults dating back to 2014, say he’s suspect in two others

Authorities in New York City say they have made an arrest in connection with a series of sexual assaults that began more than four years ago.

According to WABC, a suspect identified as an attorney from the East Flatbush community, was reportedly arrested recently. He was scheduled to be arraigned at a Lower Manhattan court on Saturday.

Police officers took him into custody on Friday evening, as reported by WPIX.

Investigators believe 35-year-old Rashaun Kelley was responsible for at least three sexual assaults beginning in late 2014 and continuing into the next year.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured a suspect pursuing the women. Police allege he followed them into their respective apartment buildings before beginning the sexual assault.

The suspect was seen in the footage released by police wearing a Yankees baseball cap and a tie.

Reports indicate the assaults took place at residential properties in Harlem, the East Village, and the Lower East Side.

Though he has only initially been linked to three attacks, police say he is still a suspect in two additional assaults that detectives believe were part of a related crime spree.

The New York Post published details of the attacks, beginning with the suspect allegedly forcing himself on a woman after following her into an elevator in December 2014. The following morning, police believe he violently grabbed a woman inside a Harlem apartment building before covering her mouth to silence her.

In January 2015, he is accused of following a woman into her apartment and pulling down her pants, running away from the scene moments later.

As of the latest reports available, he remained behind bars awaiting his court appearance. He is expected to face charges including sex abuse, attempted rape, and burglary.
