[WATCH] Teacher hospitalized after brutal beating by student she turned in for bringing drugs to school: Cops

Authorities in Michigan say a high school teacher is recuperating in the hospital following a brutal attack caught on cellphone video.

According to WJBK, the incident occurred at Cody High School in Detroit on Thursday at about 10:30 a.m. One witness says a student walked into the math classroom and started physically attacking the teacher.

“I was doing my work and I just looked up and she was on the floor shaking and stuff,” said Keintoay Nelson. “Like her head was messed up.”

Brandon Antisdel also witnessed the brutal attack on the substitute teacher.

“He ran up on the old lady hit her, pushed her on the ground and hit her again,” Brandon Antisdel said. “That’s not something anybody should do, especially to an old lady.”

Along with Nelson and another student, he ran after the alleged attacker.

“My friend Keiontay and my man John, we all felt offended by it because that’s somebody’s grandmother,” Antisdel explained.”

Reports suggest the attack stemmed from the fact that the victim alerted school officials of the fact that the suspect brought narcotics into the school.

The teen has since been arrested and will be prohibited from returning to the school.

Hospital staff reported that the teacher was admitted and has since been listed in stable condition with injuries that are not expected to be life threatening.

A statement from the Detroit Public Schools Community District confirmed the attack, adding that it was “terribly disappointed” in the details of the attack.
