‘Payback for waking me up’: Mom seen ‘waterboarding’ baby in Facebook video

A mother in South Carolina was arrested this week after she reportedly shared a video of herself ‘punishing’ her infant girl by pouring water on her as she slept.

WIS-TV reports that  Caitlin Alyse Hardy, 33, was arrested in Sumpter County, South Carolina, on Wednesday and charged with cruelty to children. Hardy had allegedly shared images on Facebook of an adult, presumably the suspect, pouring water on her baby’s face while the girl slept in her crib, and multiple people who saw the video reported the so-called ‘waterboarding’ incident to police.

Captioned screenshots of the alleged child abuse still remain viewable on the page of a Facebook group that appears to be dedicated to an unrelated child abuse case.

One of the posts is captioned: “Payback for waking me up all kinda times of da night.”

The WIS-TV report indicates there are more than one child living in the suspect’s home. Authorities are reportedly working with Sumter County Department of Social Services to investigate the allegations and determine the next steps.

Hardy is currently out of jail in $1,500 bond.

“The charges against this defendant will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Sheriff Anthony Dennis told WIS-TV.
