Double murder suspect allegedly killed ‘wonderful’ neighbor, fatally shot her daughter in the face following argument over loud music: Report

A man in Minnesota is facing murder charges after he allegedly fatally shot his neighbor and her adult daughter following an argument in which loud music may have played a role.

The Associated Press reports that Richie Vessel, 46, is accused of murdering Eileen Mark, 67, and her 42-year-old daughter Jennifer Angerhofer in Minneapolis on Saturday night.

According to the Star Tribune, Mark was well-liked in her community; described by another neighbor as a “wonderful lady” who collected clothes to donate to those in need and regularly volunteered at a homeless shelter.

Multiple reports note that witnesses in the apartment building reported hearing loud music followed by arguing and then the sound of gunshots on Saturday night. According to a report in CityPages, it is unclear if it was the suspect or the victims who were playing loud music.

Authorities responding to the scene reportedly found Mark with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to the Associated Press, Angerhofer was shot in the face. The Star Tribune reports that the younger woman was shot in the neck and the head.

Vessel was reportedly arrested on Monday. Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder told the Star Tribune that surveillance video at the apartment complex helped investigators identify the suspect. According to CityPages, authorities discovered a gun matching the ballistics of the murder weapon on a dumpster near the apartment building.

Vessel is facing two counts of second-degree murder.
