14-year-old stabs schoolmate in the eye, killing him, in altercation over a brownie: Cops

Authorities in Texas say one teen is dead and another is facing criminal charges in what allegedly started as an argument over a brownie.

According to Fox News, the Houston Independent School District confirmed the 14-year-old boy’s death on Friday — two days after the fatal attack. He was allegedly stabbed in the eye during an altercation with the 14-year-old suspect at a convenience store near their school.

The injured teen continued flailing as though he were still involved in the fight even after emergency personnel arrived and brought him onto an ambulance, District Police Chief Paul Cordova said.

He was admitted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition, which deteriorated and prompted local police to take over the investigation from school district authorities.

Police have not revealed a further motive for the violent attack and do not believe it was related to gang activity.

Jane Long Academy, a middle and magnet high school in southwest Houston, issued a statement in light of the student’s death, as reported by KHOU.

“We are heartbroken to learn that our student has passed away,” the school wrote. “We offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends and all who loved and cared for him.”

The school confirmed it offered counselors on campus “to offer emotional support to students and staff and they will return after Spring Break.”

The juvenile suspect is expected to face criminal charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
