MMA fighter Conor McGregor was apparently not too pleased when a fan tried to take a photo of him Monday morning in Florida.
According to the Miami Herald, McGregor and a fan were outside of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel at around 5:30 a.m. Monday morning, when the fan tried to take a photo of the MMA fighter. McGregor allegedly knocked the phone out of the man’s hand and stomped on it several times before picking it up and walking away with it.
The incident, apparently captured on security footage outside of the hotel, landed McGregor behind bars. Authorities reviewed the footage, then arrested him Monday evening at his home off of North Venetian Drive in Miami Beach. The victim reportedly said the phone was worth $1,000.
McGregor was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center but posted $12,5000 the same night.
“Last evening Conor McGregor was involved a minor altercation over a cell phone that resulted in a call to law enforcement,” McGregor’s lawyer said in a statement after the arrest. ‘Mr McGregor appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation.”
The fighter is facing a strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief charge.
In April 2018, McGregor was arrested in NYC when he threw a dolly at a bus in carrying other MMA fighters. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was given community service and anger management classes.
