‘Bye, Miami’: Chilling last words of young woman killed in hit-and-run after falling out of rental car

A young woman was killed in a hit-and-run following a spring break trip to Miami with friends.

The Miami Herald reports that Mariah Michelle Logan, 23, was killed on the way to the airport when she was riding in the backseat of a car driven by a friend. According to a Florida Highway Patrol incident report obtained by the Miami Herald, Logan was “hanging out” of the right backseat window at around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday when she fell out of the car and was run over by a Range Rover — whose driver fled the scene.

Logan was reportedly visiting Miami with three friends, celebrating one of their birthdays The friends called Logan’s boyfriend, Ray Olden, to tell him what had happened. According to a New York Post report, Olden and authorities said that Logan said “Bye, Miami” just before she fell out of the car.

“She was just being silly,” Olden told the Miami Herald. “She loved life.”

According to ABC 7 Chicago, Logan is a native of Waukegan, a Chicago suburb.

Authorities are reportedly investigating Logan’s death as a homicide. The driver of the Range Rover is reportedly a male, but law enforcement officials have not yet shared a more detailed description.

State police told the Miami Herald that it is unclear at this time if alcohol was involved.

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further details when more information is available.
