Mom who pulled daughter from school, prompting AMBER Alert, planned to ‘inject her with bleach’ to get rid of parasites: Police

An Idaho woman who pulled her daughter out of school earlier this month reportedly told police she planned to inject the girl with bleach.

Idaho Statesman reports that Brooke Helmandollar, 41, tooks her 10-year-old daughter from her elementary school on March 12. A school employee reportedly noticed that Helmandollar covered her car seats with plastic. According to court documents, Helmandollar explained to the school staff member that their home was infected with insects and parasites, and that she was taking the girl to stay in a hotel.

Shortly after, police issued an AMBER Alert, sparked by Helmandollar’s “threatening behavior.” Court documents indicate Helmandollar may have mental health issues.

Authorities found Helmandollar and the little girl in Cheney, Washington. They also searched a Nampa hotel where they pair stayed, and discovered bleach, charcoal, and “materials for enemas,” according to the outlet.

Police said when she was questioned, Helmandollar explained that she planned to use the bleach and other materials on both herself and her daughter. Helmandollar later changed her story and claimed the materials were actually cleaning supplies.

After Helmandollar’s arrest, the girl was placed into the custody of the Child Protective Services. Police are also investigating the child’s father, John Helmandollar, for child endangerment. Police said the man lied about his wife and daughter’s whereabouts.

Further, the father showed little to no concern about his daughter and claimed that news of the incident would end up making him look bad, according to court documents. A former running back for Boise State University, John Helmandollar is currently the head football coach at Nampa’s Columbia High School.
