A Texas boy who disappeared in 2017 was found on Saturday in Florida, hundreds of miles away from his home, police said.
ABC Houston reports that 9-year-old Joshua Graham, who disappeared from his mother’s Houston home in 2017, was found early Saturday morning with his father, who never brought the boy back home to his mother. The man, identified as 52-year-old Kenneth Graham, didn’t have permission to take Joshua after his mother was granted full custody.
Police found Joshua while investigating a “suspicious vehicle” located close to Seminole Boulevard and San Juan Avenue in Sanford. They found the boy inside the car with Graham.
“Regardless of the circumstances, the feelings of loss and devastation are indescribable when any child is taken from a parent,” Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said in a news release. “The officers and investigators involved in this case are delighted to have played a significant role in reuniting this mother with her child after two long years.”
So far, it’s unclear what charges Graham will face. Joshua is scheduled to be reunited with his mother.
