Estranged husband of missing teacher in custody, admitted to assaulting mother-of-three: Report

Police are reportedly questioning the estranged husband of a missing teacher and mother who vanished this weekend in Staten Island.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Jean Cammarata, a public school teacher disappeared over the weekend after telling friends she was going to pick up her children from her estranged husband. One of the friends told ABC 7 that she had gotten strange text messages from Cammarata’s phone, and indicated she did not believe Cammarata sent them. According to earlier reports, Cammarata is believed to have spent some part of Saturday with her boyfriend, who also works at the Dollar Store where she has a second part-time job, but a precise timeline of her whereabouts over the weekend has not been available.

According to the New York Post, law enforcement sources said that they have Cammarata’s estranged husband Michael Cammarata in custody, and that he admitted to assaulting her. According to the report, the missing woman’s estranged husband was first questioned about her disappearance on Saturday.

Michaeal Cammarata is currently being held at a precinct in Staten Island, but no charges have yet been filed.

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
