Authorities in New Jersey say a woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with a fire at her boyfriend’s home earlier this week.
According to the New York Post, 33-year-old Tasia Young is accused of setting the home in Woodbury on fire on Sunday evening following a sexual encounter involving her boyfriend and another woman.
Local law enforcement arrested her on Tuesday after she reportedly turned herself in at the Woodbury Police Department headquarters. Reports indicate she confessed to setting the fire.
Upon interviewing her, police determined that she was motivated in part by jealousy. She reportedly told them that she was “going through a lot” prior to setting the fire.
Furthermore, police say Young indicated she was upset with her boyfriend following the threesome. He reportedly told her to take a cab home while letting the other woman stay at the residence.
In addition to her boyfriend, six other people lived in adjacent apartment units. All of them were reportedly required to leave their homes as a result of the blaze.
Officials say no one was injured in the fire.
Young is expected to face criminal charges including counts of arson, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and endangerment.
As of the latest updates available, it was unclear whether she had retained legal representation.
