Gypsy Rose Blanchard engaged to pen pal while serving prison sentence for abusive mother’s murder: Reports

Reports indicate the woman sentenced to prison for her role in murdering her abusive mother has found romance behind bars.

According to People, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has sparked a relationship with a pen pal and the two are engaged to be married.

One family friend said Blanchard is “very happy” about the news.

“You can hear excitement in her voice,” Fancy Macelli said.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Blanchard was sentenced to a decade in prison for planning her mother’s 2015 death with then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn. For his role in Dee Dee Blanchard’s stabbing death, Godejohn was convicted and sentenced to life behind bars.

The younger Blanchard has reportedly moved on from Godejohn and has been communicating with her fiance for about 18 months, according to Macelli.

Her new relationship “is a good thing for her,” the friend said, adding that “whether it ends up being that way in the end no one knows, but for her right now it’s a very positive and happy time.”

Blanchard’s stepmother reportedly posted — and then deleted — an Instagram image revealing an apparent engagement ring on the inmate’s finger.

Macelli said Blanchard’s family has yet to meet the special man in her life, adding that the expected nuptials aren’t expected to take place until after she is released from prison.

“She’s 27 years old, she deserves to be in love and she deserves to have somebody who cares about her,” Macelli said.

Though Blanchard confessed to planning her mother’s murder, she said she convinced Godejohn to go along with the plot because she feared for her life. Dee Dee Blanchard is believed to have forced her daughter to live as though she suffered from nonexistent maladies in an effort to earn sympathy from others.
