Officers from the Newtown Police Department arrived a short time later and identified Watertown resident Joseph Achenbach, 35, as the driver of the Ford Escape found crashed in the backyard. Police further determined that he gained entry to the home via a sliding glass door that had been left unlocked.

Reports indicate he is suspected of having been under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the incident. Since his clothes were not recovered at the scene, police believe he was naked while driving the SUV prior to the crash.

As of the latest updates available, Achenbach remained behind bars with bond set at $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

According to officials, he is expected to face criminal charges including criminal trespassing, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, and driving while intoxicated.
