Caretaker at group home caught on tape chasing disabled man with a frying pan and repeatedly hitting him: Cops

Authorities in Florida say a 29-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attacking a man at the group home where she worked at the time.

According to WFTS, the incident allegedly involved a victim with mental disabilities.

Suspect Darnika Martin reportedly worked as a caretaker at a facility in Pinellas Park specializing in the treatment of adults with mental and physical handicaps. Officials believe she would have known at the time of the attack that the victim was disabled.

Investigators say the attack was captured on surveillance camera and depicted Martin shouting at victim ad hitting him with her hand. She allegedly picked up a frying pan in an attempt to bash him in the head and when he covered his head to protect himself, hit him again on his hands.

Arrest reports indicate Martin can be seen on the video running toward the victim with the pan raised above her head.

According to Pinellas Park police reports, she is expected to face criminal charges including two counts of abuse or neglect of a disabled person.
