Rapper Remy Ma has reportedly been arrested in New York on suspicion of assaulting a star of reality series “Love & Hip Hop New York.”
According to TMZ, the incident occurred last month during an altercation at a concert near Union Square.
The suspect allegedly punched Brittney Taylor on April 16.while the two women were backstage at the Pretty Lou Benefit Concert at Irving Plaza.
According to defense attorney Dawn Florio, however, the music artist was at her home the entire time. She said video evidence will prove the alibi.
A judge reportedly granted the alleged victim an order of protection in the case and Remy Ma — whose legal name is Reminisce Smith — surrendered on Wednesday to face the charge against her.
She is reportedly facing a misdemeanor count of assault and her attorney is questioning why Taylor also retained an attorney after the incident.
Taylor was reportedly preparing for a possible civil lawsuit against the suspect while police were still investigating the case.
Attorney Sanford Rubenstein issued a statement on behalf of Taylor, asserting that she “has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”
He stressed the seriousness of the charges in this case, as reported by People.
“The victim Brittney Taylor has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”
