2 years after he claimed wife died in accidental fall down the stairs at their million-dollar home, prominent fertility doctor charged with murder

A southern California doctor is facing murder charges more than two years after his wife died in what he claimed was an accidental fall down the stairs.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Dr. Eric Scott Sills told police on November 13, 2016 that he found his wife Susann Sills at the bottom of the stairs in their San Clemente home, reportedly valued at $1 million.

Though Sills, a successful fertility specialist in upscale Orange County, told police that he found Susann at the bottom of the stairs and believed she had fallen, homicide detectives reportedly became involved early in the investigation, as the cause of death could not be determined.

In 2017, based on the autopsy and further investigation, authorities determined that Susann had been killed; though it is not known how investigators believe she died. Authorities did not obtained a warrant for Sills’ arrest until last month, and he was stopped on his way to work on April 25 and taken into custody.

Eric and Susann Sills, who had an MBA from the University of Miami, reportedly co-founded a fertility clinic together, where Eric Sills is the medical director.

According to the Los Angeles Times report, the arrest warrant is sealed, and it is unclear what specifically led to the suspect’s arrest.

Sills reportedly posted $1 million dollar bail four days after he was taken into custody. It is not known when he is next due in court.

CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
