Live-in girlfriend says boyfriend should have ‘eternal sleep,’ so she feeds him Drano pipe cleaner: Police

A Utah woman is behind bars after she allegedly fed her boyfriend a drain cleaner instead of his medicine.

Salt Lake Tribune that Elle Yoshio Weissman, 43, was arrested Tuesday on charges of attempted murder and surreptitious administering of a certain substance. Weissman’s 50-year-old boyfriend was taken to the hospital around 8:40 p.m. Monday night, in extreme pain. First responders said that the man had “swallowed drain cleaner,” according to court documents.

When police questioned Weissman, she reportedly admitted she fed the man Drano instead of medicine, as she wanted to “go into eternal sleep.” The incident occurred inside a Salt Lake home of the 2100 block of S. Redwood Road.

“Elle stated that by eternal sleep she meant death,” the probable cause statement read.

According to KSL, the victim was “partially asleep” when Weissman fed the man the pipe cleaner.

“She knew that Drano could kill him and that was her intention. The victim was partially asleep when Elle gave him the Drano. Elle said her boyfriend thought she was giving him his medicine,” court documents read.

The victim’s condition is unknown. As of Thursday, he was still in the hospital.
