Math teacher engages in intimate relationship with 15-year-old student, cops say

Authorities in New York say a 25-year-old educator has been arrested on suspicion of engaging in an illegal relationship with a juvenile student 10 years his junior.

According to WKBW, Christopher Enlow is expected to face criminal charges including endangering the welfare of a child.

As part of an investigation that began earlier this month, investigators reportedly recovered text messages between the two that revealed an intimate nature to their relationship, as reported by WIVB.

“On the afternoon of May 10, 2019, the Belfast Central was notified of secondary Math teacher, Christopher Enlow’s arrest,” the school said. “Mr. Enlow taught at Belfast Central School since August 2017.”

Officials indicated he resigned at a special meeting of the education board.

“Be assured, the District has cooperated and will continue to cooperate with authorities, and is committed to the well-being of all students,” Belfast Central School Superintendent Dr. Wendy S. Butler concluded.

The investigation remained ongoing as of the most recent updates available. State police urges anyone with information related to this case to contact investigators by calling 585-344-6200.
