Thanks mom! Mother and son busted with ‘200 pounds of marijuana in car’ hidden in hockey gear bags

Authorities in New York say a traffic stop yielded the recovery of hundreds of pounds of illegal weed.

According to the Syracuse Post Standard, a mother and her adult son were driving along the New York State Thruway when a state police trooper pulled them over in the town of Chatham.

Police reports indicate the trooper initiated the stop on the Berkshire Spur portion of the road over suspected “violation of the vehicle and traffic law at about 10 a.m. on Friday.

Upon further investigation, a drug-sniffing dog was brought to the scene and signaled the possible detection of narcotics.

Officers conducted a more thorough search of the vehicle and allegedly discovered the stash consisting of more than 200 pounds of marijuana.

According to CNY Central, the haul was more than enough to fill six large bags with pot.

The two occupants were arrested at the scene and locked up at Columbia County Jail without bond following an arraignment hearing at a Town of Livingston Court.

Both the mother and son are expected to face criminal charges including possession of marijuana in the first degree.
