‘It makes me feel sick’: Victim’s mother says Kim Kardashian’s effort to prove killer’s innocence is causing ‘immense pain’

Socialite Kim Kardashian has made it her mission in recent years to assist incarcerated individuals. But the mother of a boy killed in 1983 says the recent activism is bringing up difficult emotions from that tragedy.

According to the Page Six, Mary Ann Hughes saw images of Kardashian and death-row inmate Kevin Cooper hugging for a photo and she immediately relived the moment her 11-year-old son Christopher was murdered while he stayed at a friend’s home for a sleepover.

In addition to Hughes’ son, Cooper was convicted of killing the husband, wife and daughter living at the Chino Hills home.

“It makes me feel sick to my stomach and I pity her,” the mother said of Kardashian.

Hughes went on to say that there is “nothing to justify what she’s doing to us, the immense pain she is causing us.”

As Hughes told TMZ, she believes Cooper’s defense team is “using” Kardashian’s celebrity status “because they can’t use the truth to try to help Kevin Cooper.”

She accused the reality television star of being uninformed when it comes to the convicted murderer’s case.

Hughes said that Kardashian has “bought into half truths perpetrated by the defense” without reading the evidence proving the case.

“If she actually sat down and read the transcripts of all the trials and appeals, she would be sick to her stomach to be in the same room with him,” Hughes said.
