Suspect flees children’s birthday party after stabbing 6-year-old girl in the face, possibly with a razor: Police

A Saturday evening birthday party in California turned violent when a woman allegedly stabbed a little girl in the face after becoming “upset with her.”

The Fresno Bee reports that 35-year-old Crystal Lisa Parra, according to police, stabbed a 6-year-old girl with a sharp object before fleeing a home off of the 1400 block of East Brown Avenue in Fresno. The little girl was cut under her eye, possibly with a razor, but is expected to survive.

First responders rushed the child to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

“The suspect became upset with the 6-year-old for some reason that we have not been able to determine and struck the victim in the face,” Lt. Bill Dooley of the Fresno police said, according to ABC 30. “When she struck her she had some sort of sharp object in her hand, possibly a razor blade we’re not sure but that’s what it was described as,”

Authorities captured Parra a short time afterward, at a nearby shopping center. It’s unclear what relationship the suspect has to the child. Investigators are working to piece the information together but according to Dooley, police are “not getting a whole lot of cooperation” from witnesses at the party.

The only people willing to speak with police about the incident was the little girl herself and the person who brought the child to the party.

Parra was booked into the Fresno County Jail. She’s been charged with suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, injuring a child, and mayhem.
