BREAKING NOW: Father’s Day Family Massacre

Authorities in Iowa say four members of a family — including two kids — were found dead inside their home this weekend.

According to initial reports, the victims were shot, though officials noted that the causes of death for each individual will be determined through autopsies yet to be completed.

The victims were identified as 44-year-old Chandrasekhar Sunkara, 41-year-old Lavanya Sunkara, and two juvenile males, ages 10 and 15. Each was pronounced dead at the scene.

All were residents of the West Des Moines home while four other relatives were reportedly visiting and survived the incident. The two adults and two children found the deceased victims and one ran out of the home to seek assistance, ultimately finding someone nearby who called 911, according to reports.

West Des Moines police say there is no apparent evidence of a continued threat to the public.

Chandrasekhar Sunkara was reportedly a longtime employee of the information technology unit at the Iowa Department of Public Safety, though he was not a sworn officer, as reported by Fox News.

West Des Moines Police Sgt. Dan Wade said the “tragedy will impact family, friends, co-workers, anyone that knew this family,” promising that investigators “will follow through until we have answered as many questions as the evidence allows.”

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations has reportedly added its agents to assist local law enforcement in the ongoing criminal probe.
