Body of woman, nearly naked, found in shallow waters on Long Island beach

The body of a woman wearing only her underwear was found early Friday in Long Beach, New York.

According to Newsday, a jogger found the body on the Long Island beach Friday morning at about 5:30 a.m. The woman was reportedly found face-down in shallow water along the Long Beach shoreline.

The woman has not yet been positively identified, and police reportedly said that she is white and believed to be between the ages of 40 and 50.

According to WABC, police do not suspect foul play at this time, though Newsday notes that the body was found about 15 miles from Gilgo Beach, where authorities discovered several sets of remains in 2010 that are believed to be victims of a serial killer who has not been apprehended.

Authorities are reportedly investigating the death, and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
