Child who vanished on 4th of July found deceased on beach: Reports

Virginia beach authorities found the body of a child on Friday morning, believed to be an 8-year-old who was reported missing on July 4.

CBS 3 reports that the child, whose name has not yet been released, was reported missing at around 8 p.m. on Thursday, after last seen at the 31st Street area in Virginia Beach. The child was last spotted by the edge of the water.

According to The Virginian-Pilot, there area had quickly filled up on July 4, as people joined in to watch fireworks. As the beach got more crowded, lifeguards that day received a total of 65 lost children reports, including the 8-year-old.

At around 2 a.m. on Friday morning, the child’s lifeless body was found on the oceanfront near 39th street.
