Boyfriend charged in drowning death of girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter is STILL too high to appear in court, days after drug binge

The man charged along with his girlfriend in the drowning death of a three-year-old girl has not yet appeared in court because he is still under the influence of drugs days after the girl wandered off from a rented vacation home.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, 3-year-old Josie Burleson was found dead in a river in Wythe County, Virginia, early Wednesday morning, several hours after she was reported missing. The little girl was reportedly staying in a rental house near the New River with her mother, Kimberly Dawn Moore, and her mother’s boyfriend, Adrian Neil Puckett.

Moore and Puckett reportedly told police that the little girl had wandered off, but both were given drug tests which were positive for methamphetamine. The mother and her boyfriend were arrested and charged with child neglect and reckless disregard for life and child endangerment, and more charges may be pending, according to WSET.

WSLS reported that as of Thursday night, Puckett was still too high to be arraigned in court. Moore was reportedly arraigned via video on Thursday.

According to the report, Josie will be laid to rest on Saturday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
