R. Kelly was arrested on Thursday and is now facing federal child pornography charges.

The Associated Press reports that Kelly, who was arrested earlier this year on multiple counts of aggravated sexual abuse, was taken into custody on Thursday evening in Chicago as he was walking his dog.

“The counts include child porn, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice,” U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Joseph Fitzpatrick told the Associated Press.

The federal charges reportedly stem from allegations in New York and Illinois.

According to the New York Times, federal prosecutors in New York are expected to unseal an indictment on Friday with further charges.

Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg said in a statement obtained by the New York Times that his client was“aware of the investigations and the charges were not a surprise.”

Kelly is reportedly being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. According to CNN, he will appear at a bail hearing early next week.
