Woman and her boyfriend strangle newborn boy to death while still in the hospital, cops say

Authorities in California say a man and woman were arrested on suspicion of killing the female victim’s newborn baby.

According to KTLA, 20-year-old Andrea Torralba had recently given birth at a hospital in the Oxnard area when police were called to the location over the report of “suspicious injuries” to the young boy.

According to Oxnard Police Sgt. Brandon Ordelheide, Torralba and Villa, her boyfriend, are suspected of strangling the child to the point that he became unresponsive and could not be revived by staff at St. John’s Medical Center on Friday morning. He said they told police they did not want the child.

They are each expected to face criminal charges including assault on a child by force resulting in death.
