Twin babies found dead, foaming at the mouth, after social worker dad leaves them in scorching vehicle for 8 hours, cops say

Authorities in New York say a man has been arrested on suspicion of leaving his twin 1-year-old children — a boy and a girl — in the back of a hot car for about eight hours this week.

According to the New York Post, the 37-year-old man is accused of walking away from his Honda Accord after parking near West Kingsbridge Road and Kingsbridge Terrace in the Bronx on Friday morning at about 8 a.m.

He allegedly worked an entire shift inside a Veterans Administration hospital located nearby.

Investigators do not believe the deaths were intentional and say the as-yet unidentified suspect did not realize the children were in the vehicle until he had started driving away from the location at about 4 p.m. the same day.

A short time later, he reportedly exit the vehicle as he screamed frantically on the side of the road. Another individual witnessed the incident and contacted authorities, according to reports.

Sources told the New York Post that the babies had foam coming from their mouths when they were discovered.

The father was arrested later the same day and court records indicate charges were still pending in the case as of the latest updates available.

As ABC News reported, one law enforcement spokesperson with information related to the case described it as “a horrific situation.”
