After 2 young children found alone in home, mother admits she tried to kill them before fleeing

A Virginia mother is accused of trying to murder her two young children before fleeing their home.

CBS 6 reports that authorities responded to an apartment complex in Stafford County in response to reports of a “distraught woman” on Saturday morning. Amanda Vicinanzo with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office told the news station that deputies found two children, ages 4 and 9, alone in the residence.

Police later found the children’s mother, Tracy Ann Wiggins, in her car, which was parked at the I-95 entrance ramp near Centreport Parkway.

Deputies reportedly learned from the mother that she had attempted to murder her two children before leaving the home.

It is unclear how Wiggins allegedly tried to kill the children.

The suspect was reportedly experiencing a “mental health crisis,” Vicinanzo told the news outlet.

Wiggins is currently behind held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, and is facing attempted murder charges.
