BREAKING: Florida Air Force base put on lockdown after reports of shooting

UPDATE: 8:25 a.m.

WFTS reports that the lockdown has been lifted and that officials say there is no active shooter at the base.

A possible armed suspect near the Tanker Way gate area of the base prompted the alerts about an active shooter. While there are no reports of gunfire, authorities are searching for the suspect.

The MacDill Air Force Base in Florida is on lockdown following reports of shots fired.

According to CNN, U.S. Special Operations Command spokesman said that the Tampa-area base had been placed on lockdown amid reports of gunfire.
