Teen girl ‘witness’ who led police to apparent murder victim in trash can may have lured him there: Report

Police in Philadelphia are investigating a homicide after a teen girl reportedly said she witnessed a murder and helped lead authorities to a body.

WPVI reports that a teen girl alerted a guidance counselor about a homicide that she said took place in late December 2019, and police later discovered the body of  male in a trash can under a bridge in Philadelphia.

“We were notified by an official from a school that there was a child reporting that sometime around the Christmas break, or slightly after Christmas, she was aware of a homicide that occurred … Apparently she was a witness to the homicide,” Acting Police Commissioner Christine Coulter told the news station.

According to CBS3, police sources have said they believe the girl who told the guidance counselor about the apparent homicide is the victim’s ex-girlfriend and may have lured him to the area before he was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend and a friend on December 26.  The unidentified victim reportedly endured puncture wounds and blunt-force trauma.

The report indicates that school officials, not the teen girl, reported the suspected homicide to police; authorities are reportedly looking for the girl. Two others were taken into custody but released without charges.
