Human trafficking suspect allegedly held victim as sex slave for FIVE years; victim forced to perform sexual acts in exchange for basic needs

A North Carolina man has been accused of keeping a victim as a virtual sex slave for five years.

ABC News reports that Salvador Espinoza Escobar, 48, was arrested on Wednesday and is facing a human trafficking charge after the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said he allegedly kept a woman in “sexual servitude” for five years.

An investigation that resulted from information obtained by the National Human Trafficking Tip Line found that the suspect allegedly denied the victim basic needs unless she participated in forced sexual acts.

Due to privacy concerns, authorities are not expected to release any information about the victim.

According to the report, Escobar is being held at the Randolph County Detention Center on $100,000 bond.
