Two teen males found shot to death in quiet beachside home; accident or murder-suicide?

Two teenage boys were found dead in a Florida home early Sunday morning in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office sources told WGUA that deputies responded to an emergency call at a Ponte Verda Beach home at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Responding officers reportedly found two male teens, ages 17 and 18, dead in a bedroom in the home.

The sheriff’s office has said there is no imminent danger to the public. Initially, law enforcement believed the teens died of an apparent murder-suicide, though First Coast News now reports that authorities said they have not yet determined if the fatal double shooting was an accident.

Ponte Verda Beach is a seaside community that is part of the Jacksonsville Beaches area.

The males have not yet been identified, and the cause of death is pending autopsy results. It is unclear if anyone else was at the home at the time of the shooting, or how the teens were initially discovered.
