The Jackson Progress-Argus reports that several children were around the area playing when the shooting occurred, according to witnesses at the scene.

Investigators allege Matthews shot the victim, then possibly took 21-year-old Autumn Keara Finlay against her will. Finlay is considered “in extreme danger.”

“Cody HAS been violent towards my sister in the past so I do not believe her to be safe right now and do believe she is being held against her will,” Finlay’s sister, Chrichelle Wood, posted on Facebook. “Autumn has 2 little boys to come home to and would not just run off with Cody.”

Butts County Sheriff’s Office said that a reward is being offered for information that leads to the pair.

Matthews is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Matthews and Finlay should contact 911 immediately.
