Three newborns abandoned three different times at same apartment complex. They’re all siblings: Report

Three newborns, each abandoned at the same apartment complex during three different times, are apparently siblings who share the same mother and father, Florida officials said.

NBC News reports that each incident happened at the Willow Key apartment complex in Orlando. One baby was left in 2016, followed by another in 2017, and another in 2019. Orlando police requested $2,500 from the city council to perform DNA tests on the babies, after determining the similarities in each incident were overwhelming.

“We can confirm that all three infants, in this case, are siblings but can’t comment any further, at this time, to protect the integrity of this ongoing investigation,” Orlando police said in a statement on Tuesday.

Orlando police Det. Ghena Luker said that notes left at the scene appeared to be from a woman who said she feared the father of the children.

“A note discovered at the scene explained the baby was left at the location because the mother was in fear of the child’s father,” Luker said.

Police are hoping to identify the mother and possibly get her to safety. At this point, it’s unclear whether the parents will face charges.

“It’s tricky … it varies on a case-by-case basis,” a spokesperson for Orlando police said.
