A New York man cleaning out his deceased mother’s apartment reportedly found a decaying body inside a refrigerator.
New York Daily News reports that the incident happened at the Hamilton Heights apartments in Manhattan on Thursday. The tenant’s son stopped by “to pick up a couple of things,” according to builder supervisor, Asmir Basim.
“He opened the freezer and started screaming. He says the body appeared to be a woman, very decayed.”

Basim added that the standalone freezer had been taped shut and the body inside was so decayed that no one could identify her.
“The body had been in the freezer at least 10 years, maybe 15,” Basim said.
The supervisor said that the woman who lived there would never give him or workers access to the apartment but “seemed like a lovely lady.”
Authorities are currently investigating while a medical examiner is trying to determine the victim’s identity.
