Home health caretaker stabs patient to death during coronavirus pandemic: Police

A New Jersey woman is dead and her home health care aid is accused of brutally murdering her.

NJ.com reports that Anna M. Pollard, 62, was found dead in her Elizabeth home on April 13. Police sources told the news outlet that she was found with multiple stab wounds.

Myrlande Dornelus, 41, a certified home health aide, was reportedly arrested on Friday on suspicion of murder and multiple weapons-related offenses.

It is not known how long Dornelus was working for Pollard, but the suspect has been certified since 2007 and her records dating back to 2010, the earliest date available, show no previous disciplinary actions.

A motive for the alleged murder is not yet known.

According to the report, Dornelus is now in custody at the Essex County Jail.
