Manhunt for suspect who snatched special needs girl from her own backyard, violently raped her: Police

West Virginia police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting a special needs child after abducting her from her backyard on Friday.

Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports that the incident happened off of the 800 block of College Avenue on Friday night at a little after 10 p.m. in Bluefield. The suspect is accused of grabbing the victim from her yard and dragging her to an alley off of College Avenue and Augusta Street.

“The victim was playing in her backyard,” Detective-Sgt. Kenny Adams of the Bluefield Police Department.said. “She was grabbed, dragged behind a building, and violently raped.”

Adams described the suspect as “a black male, taller in stature, mid to slender in build and wearing dark clothes.” He may possibly have a bite mark on one of his hands.

The suspect was with another person, likely a child around 8 to 10 years old, Adams added. Authorities are currently reviewing security footage and ask anyone in the area with security cameras to review their footage as well.

After the attack, the suspect ran by foot toward East River Avenue.
