Update: 9-year-old girl identified after brutally stabbed to death, while search for killer continues

A 9-year-old Georgia girl who was brutally murdered at an apartment complex earlier this week has been identified.

According to Tift County coroner, Melissa Carrol, 9-year-old Alazia “Ally” Johnson was found dead at the Peterson Apartments in Tifton. WALB News 10 reports that the scene at the apartment complex was “chaotic” following the child’s death, with the community in an uproar.

Authorities said the little girl was stabbed to death. Her mother said she came home from work to find her daughter dead.

“I have to work to support my kids. I had to go to work that night. And I just came home and found my baby,” Ally’s mother, Tegina Brown, told the outlet.

“I just want them to find whoever did this. I want them to pay for this. She was my baby, my only girl; my best friend. We talked about everything together.”

The Tifton Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident.

“At this time, we are not able to release details of the investigation. We ask that everyone be patient as we pull together the evidence and information needed to bring the person or persons responsible for this crime to justice,” the Tifton Police Department said on Facebook.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Ally’s funeral expenses.

So far, no suspects have been arrested and no details about the suspect’s description have been released.
