‘Surface’ actor Eddie Hassell shot dead near girlfriend’s apartment: Police

“Surface” actor Eddie Hassell has passed after police say he was shot early Sunday morning.

Hassell, 30, was shot a little before 2 a.m., CBS DFW reports, outside of his girlfriend’s apartment complex in Grand Prairie, a Dallas suburb. Hassell’s manager said that the girlfriend was inside her residence when the shooting took place and didn’t see the suspect.

Grand Prairie police said a car was taken from the crime scene, although they haven’t specifically indicated the motive behind the shooting.

According to The New York Times, someone shot Hassell in the abdomen. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. So far no suspects have been arrested.

Hassell, of Corsicana, Texas, starred in 10 episodes of the science fiction show, “Surface.” He also starred in the 2013 film, “The Kids Are All Right,” and the 2010 film, “Jobs.”
