Baby stabbed in stomach by 9-year-old autistic brother: Police

A 1-year-old New York baby is in the hospital after police say her 9-year-old brother stabbed her in the stomach on Tuesday.

ABC 7 reports that the incident happened in a room at the family’s Patchen Avenue apartment in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn. When the baby’s parents returned home, they found her bleeding and rushed her to Woodhull Hospital, where she was then transferred to Bellevue Hospital.

According to authorities, the baby is expected to survive. The 9-year-old, who is reportedly autistic, was taken for an evaluation at Kings County Hospital.

When investigators searched the home, they found a bloody knife. However, no charges are expected to be filed in the case. Authorities said the children’s grandmother was home with them when the incident happened.
