DEVELOPING: Two dead after ‘hostage situation’ at pediatrician’s office

Two people are dead after an hourslong hostage incident at a Texas doctor’s office Tuesday night.

According to KVUE, police in Austin have confirmed that two people died following a standoff at Children’s Medical Group, after a male suspect entered the building and took a female victim hostage. Police have not publicly identified the deceased, though reports indicate they were both doctors.

The suspect and the hostage were reportedly inside the building for six hours as SWAT negotiators attempted to contact the suspect.

“I know you have helped so many children. We want that to be your legacy. Please make that possible,” a negotiator was heard saying earlier Tuesday, according to the report.

Police reportedly said that no one else was in the building at the time of the fatal incident. Authorities have not yet commented on a cause of death.
