DEVELOPING: 12-year-old arrested after little boy, 6, found dead in motel bathroom

A 12-year-old boy is in police custody, following the death of a child found in a motel bathtub.

CBS 19 reports that the incident happened at the Town House Motel in Tyler, off of Gentry Parkway. At around 5 p.m. on April 15, officers arrived at a hotel room and found the 6-year-old unresponsive in the bathtub.

Tyler Police Public Information Officer Andy Erbaugh wrote that there was a “small amount of water” in the bathtub, the Tyler Morning Telegraph reports.

The boy was rushed to CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances, then transferred to Dallas Children’s Hospital. He subsequently passed away, although the cause of death is pending.

According to police, the suspect is the victim’s older half-brother. The 12-year-old was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter. He was then booked into the Juvenile Attention Center in Tyler.
