14-year-old boy in custody for murder of missing Florida girl found dead

Authorities in St. Johns County Florida have an announced an arrest in the death of a 13-year-old whose body was found on Sunday.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Tristyn Bailey was found dead Sunday evening, hours after her family reported her missing late that morning. The teen’s family last saw her at home in St. Johns around midnight. Tristyn was later seen at an amenities center in the Dublin Crossing neighborhood at about 1:15 a.m.

The St. Johns Sheriff Department held a press conference on Monday, announcing that 14-year-old Aiden Fucci had been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in Tristyn’s death. Both teens attended Patriot Oaks Academy, where Tristyn was on the cheer squad. Sheriff Robert Hardwick said that a resident first found Tristyn’s body in a wooded area, reportedly not far from where Tristyn was last seen.

Hardwick said that police are interviewing several witnesses, and declined to say whether any of those people witnessed the crime. The sheriff said the teen girl was clothed when she was found, but did not offer any details about the condition of her body.

A medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.

The sheriff stated repeatedly at the news conference that detectives are in the very early stages of the investigation and are still working through numerous tips and leads.

CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
