URGENT: Mattie’s Call Issued for Missing Grandmother as Criminal Investigation Unit Joins Search

Georgia police in Polk County have issued a Mattie’s Call for an 83-year-old woman who hasn’t been seen in days.

Barbara McCray disappeared from Buchanan on July 31; she was last seen at her home on Dugdown Road at around 6 p.m. Family members told Fox Atlanta that McCray has dementia is typically took evening walks around her home, but would always return.

“It’s normal for her to go for a walk so we didn’t think anything of it,” McCray’s granddaughter, Misty Romero, said.

Several agencies throughout the area are currently assisting with the search.

“We had over seventy five public safety personnel and volunteers to execute an organized grid search concentrated in the area of Dugdown Road. Large scale search & rescue operations will resume at 08:00, tomorrow morning,” Polk County police wrote on Monday.

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Polk County Police Department is handling the case, although authorities have not mentioned foul play.

“We’re just still hopeful, my dad and I, just waiting on her to come back home,” Romero said.

Anyone with information regarding McCray’s whereabouts should contact Polk County E-911 at (770) 748-3400. Ask for Detective Bowman.
