Coroner Says He “Spoke In The Moment” About Gabby Petito Homicide

Teton, Wyoming Coroner Dr. Brent Blue clarified that he “spoke in the moment” during a Tuesday conference call with reporters when he implied Gabby’s death was a result of domestic violence.

“Unfortunately this is only one of many deaths around the country of people who are involved in domestic violence,” Dr. Blue said during a conference call with reporters.

During the same conference call, Dr. Blue revealed Gabby Petito’s cause of death to be strangulation.

WFLA’s 8 On Your Side reporter Mahsa Saeidi had an opportunity to speak with Dr. Blue in a follow up interview and asked the coroner to expand on the comment.

“Did you determine that her cause of death was the result of domestic violence or was that just, you know, a comment that you made in the moment?” Saeidi asked.

“That was a comment I made in the moment,” Dr. Blue said.

Brian Laundrie has been named a person of interest in the disappearance of Gabby Petito but has not been named a suspect in her disappearance or homicide.
