Charlotte police found 3-year-old Marlaya Monet Patterson on Sunday afternoon, following an AMBER Alert issuance. On Monday, police announced the arrest of Corey Patterson, 31, identified as the child’s father. He’s been accused of killing the child’s mother, Jaqusica Wilson, inside her home in the 1600 block of Swan Drive.

According to police, Corey Patterson is accused of killing Wilson before taking the child, WRAL reports. Patterson was arrested Monday and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

A police source reportedly told News Channel 9 that the murder happened during a domestic violence incident. Police found Patterson with family members and safely located Marlaya with him. She has been reunited with her family.
