Pieces of Bumper Left Behind, Police Search for Driver Who Killed Woman & Fled: Police

A Texas pedestrian is dead and police are searching for the person who crashed into her and fled from the scene.

The incident happened on February 25, a little after 8:30 p.m., off of FM 1889 near Robstown. KIITV reports that Tammy Jo Lara, 40, was pronounced dead at an area hospital following the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Lara was walking southbound on the highway when an older model a white Chevy Trailblazer struck her. Witnesses told police that the vehicle didn’t have a front right headlamp, according to Caller-Times.

Police said a piece of the SUV’s bumper was left at the scene after the driver fled without stopping or rendering aid.
