‘Terrible way to go’: Dog-sitter Who Lost 2 Sons in Car Crashes Dies After Pit Bulls Viciously Maul Her

A North Carolina mother died after a brutal attack by a dog she was taking care of on Thursday morning.

According to Fox 8, Trena Peed, who previously lost two sons in separate vehicle crashes, was dog-sitting a pit bull and other dogs Thursday morning when they attacked her outside, after she let them go in the backyard at her Greensboro home.

Shortly after, neighbors heard screaming.

“It’s dark. All I hear is her yelling and her dogs over there attacking her,” a neighbor who called 911 said.

CBS 2 reports that Peed expressed concern about taking care of the pit bulls days before the incident. Her mother, Helen Harris, told the outlet that Peed was “trying to be friendly” and took care of the dogs, although she had reservations about it.

“Whoever the owner is, they need to come forward because they say they love my daughter. This is not showing love for her right now,” Harris said.

“I understand it was not intentional but I just talked to my daughter on Tuesday and I told her you need to get (those) dogs out of your house.”

A deputy shot and killed one of the dogs, while the other one was taken to the Guilford County Animal Services.

Police have not filed any criminal charges against the dog owners, but Peed’s family feels someone should be held accountable for the tragey.

“She has endured and overcame so much, most recently losing two of her sons 2 years apart, both by tragic car accidents. By her faith, she always had a smile on her face that could light up any room, loved to laugh, cook, enjoy life & had a heart of gold,” a GoFundMe page reads.
