‘It was a hoax’: Dad Lies to Police About Baby Being Inside Stolen Vehicle [Report]

An AMBER Alert in Houston has been canceled after a Texas man reportedly admitted he made the story up, according to reports.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Texas officials issued an AMBER Alert Thursday after two unknown suspects allegedly stole a vehicle in Houston with a 6-month-old baby inside.

According to Click 2 Houston, the incident happened at around 4:51 a.m. at a north Houston Mobil gas station, located at 22523 Imperial Valley.

The child’s father said he went into the store to get coffee, leaving his son inside his SUV. When returned, the vehicle and baby were gone, or at least that’s what he told police, the outlet reports.

“It was a hoax,” law enforcement sources reportedly said adding that the father made the story up in an attempt to get police to act faster.

No charges have been filed against the father yet, but he could possibly face a charge of filing a false report.
